Vote! VOTE!!! vote!

Tomorrow is voting day in Florida and I am passionate about getting out and voting.  Some may say that, “it doesn’t really matter…” but I believe  that as a Christian we have an obligation to get out and vote for a candidate that will best mirror our very own beliefs and convictions.  I found this email a few weeks ago and posted it to my Facebook…

I recently asked my neighbors’ little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, ‘If you were President what would be the first thing you would do? ‘

She replied, I’d give food and houses to all the homeless people.

Her parents beamed with pride.

‘Wow…what a worthy goal.’ I told her, ‘But you don’t have to wait until you’re President to do that! You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and trim my hedge, and I’ll pay you $50. Then I’ll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house.’

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, ‘Why doesn’t the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50? ‘

I said, ‘Welcome to the Republican Party!”

I have a friend who will be an American citizen on February 17th.  She will finally be able to cast a vote and give representation for her beliefs, convictions and a voice to the taxes she pays.  Since voting is a right that we have…I believe we take it for granted.  Imagine if all the sudden the government took away the “right to vote” for all women or for anyone who doesn’t make over $150,000 a year.  We would be all up in arms and fight for the right to vote.  As it is we TAKE VOTING FOR GRANTED!!!!  In the Florida Presidential primary, they estimate only about 10% of registered voters will vote.  That is pathetic.  Make voting a priority!  Rearrange your schedule!  Send in an absentee ballot.  JUST VOTE!  If you don’t vote…then don’t complain!!

People say that you should not mix politics and religion.  I say, “I’m a republican and I love Jesus!”  Christians need to get out there and vote…NOT who you think will win, but VOTE for the candidate that lines up with your convictions as a believer.  I won’t tell you how to vote, but I will tell you that I will be voting for the candidate that is the most conservative.  You’ll have to go to my Facebook page if you want his name.  Go ye therefore and vote!
